Research Seminar on AI: When Algorithms Learn Like Humans - Can Curricula for Machine Learning Help to Tackle Data Scarcity?

Artificial intelligence methods are being used in an increasing number of applications. In production engineering, the application of AI is mainly done in the context of quality control and the prediction of material behavior. However, this requires a large amount of data, which is often insufficiently available, especially in rather conservative industries such as textile engineering. Therefore, this talk is subject to the overall question whether algorithms learn in the same way as humans and whether curricula can help to more efficiently use available data.
Florian Brillowski is a research associate with Prof. Dr. Thomas Gries at the Institute for Textile Technology of RWTH (ITA) since 2017. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Engineering, both from RWTH Aachen University. His research focuses on the usage of Artificial Intelligence on the context of Fibre Reinforced Composite Production.
