Within the Exploratory Research Space (ERS) program, RWTH Aachen University issued a new call for exploratory and interdisciplinary research proposals on “AI, Simulation, and Data Science: Data-driven Methods for Real-world Challenges.” The call was coordinated and jointly proposed by the RWTH AI Center together with JARA-CSD and the ICT Profile Area. With this call, we seek to explore and further develop the landscape of research on AI, Simulation, and Data Science at RWTH. The topics of this call are of strategic importance for RWTH Aachen University with connections to many (if not all) profile areas.

Artificial Intelligence (AI), Simulation, and Data Science have been rapidly transforming the research landscape over the last decades. However, methods in AI, Simulation, and Data Science have been developed largely in different communities. With this call, we seek research proposals that explicitly combine methods from AI, Simulation, and Data Science in order to establish novel connections between these fields and explore untapped synergies. Please see the call text for how to submit a proposal and further details.

The Exploratory Research Space, ERS for short, promotes and funds interdisciplinary research projects and provides a platform for scientists to join forces and develop highly innovative, challenging research ideas that involve a higher risk than conventional ventures.
