International Summer School on Process Mining in Aachen
Monday, July 04, 2022
The first Summer School on Process Mining will take place in Aachen, Germany from the 4th to 8th of July 2022. This initiative, organized by the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining and supported by the RWTH Center for Artificial Intelligence, aims to be the next stepping stone in the development of the process mining field. The summer school provide lectures by world-renowned experts in process mining, to the people that will shape the future of the discipline in the years to come.
Wil van der Aalst and Josep Carmona are the course directors, and the event is supported by the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and RWTH Aachen University.
Young researchers (such as PhD students and post-docs) are the primary target audience, but the school will also be very interesting for practitioners, students, and senior researchers. The summer school will have introductory talks, lectures on the latest advancements in process mining, and presentations focusing on the application of process mining in healthcare, auditing, and robotic process automation. Moreover, different process discovery and conformance checking techniques will be presented in detail. Lectures on data preprocessing, data quality, performance analysis, predictive analytics, and responsible process mining will complete the picture. Next to the lectures, there will also be hands-on sessions with (open-source) process mining tools.
These high-profile lectures will be then accompanied by a book, the “Process Mining Handbook”, jointly written by the Summer School speakers. This book aims to communicate and describe the state of the art of process mining to a much broader audience, and set a reference point for future research. The “Process Mining Handbook” will be published in Springer’s LNBIP series.
